Logo Commonwealth GamesI just checked out new logo of Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010 that looks much better (see on the left). I didn’t like the logo that was suggested earlier and I have pointed it out in my previous post that India need a better logo. This logo seems decent to me and I personally feel that it is worth being official logo for this Commonwealth games. Here is a nice writing (about logo and what it depicts) on this game’s official website.

" The Logo for the XIX Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010 is inspired by the Chakra, The National Symbol of Freedom, of Unity and Power. Spiraling Upwards, it depicts the Growth of India into a Proud, vibrant nation, her billion people coming together to fulfill their true destinies. India's journey from tradition to modernity, her economic transformation into a super power ... Reaching out to the world and leading the way, even as she enthusiastically embraces all the 71 CCGA nations and territories of the commonwealth to become one and host the best ever commonwealth Games in India. In Delhi. In 2010 "

SPAM. Every one hate it and Why not? No one wish to waste his/her time in searching through all messages for a few legitimate messages. I have been receiving lot of SPAM comments before I find an effective way to stop it. (God knows why they were trying to sell Viagra and what not on my blog) To fight it, I have had enabled CAPTCHA for comments on my blog. Enabling the CAPTCHA discouraged SPAM and amount of SPAM goes down significantly, but the genuine posts were also reduced. I believe that visitors don’t want to bear the pain of entering the security words while posting comments. I can understand this because even I feel discouraged leaving comment where someone has enabled CAPTCHA on their blogs. I really wanted to stop SPAM but not at the cost of comments of my dear readers. Other possible way to spam is to blacklist IPs responsible for SPAM messages. However, you just can’t create a list of black listed IPs and keep adding as you encounter the new one. They are very clever and keep changing their IPs frequently.

Finally, I found Akismet is one other good (may be best) service which is helping the bloggers to fight SPAM. "Akismet is an automated spam blocking service which blocks Spam as it learns from its users/community marking SPAM Comments as "SPAM". Luckily, dasBlog (my blog runs on dasBlog engine.) have implemented the Akismet service and can be enabled by entering the API Key under “Configuration” of dasBlog. Anyone, using dasBlog can enable this service as shown in picture below.

(You need to enter the API Key box – How to get Akismet API Key)

It's been two months I am using their service and I am very happy with it. I like them so much (possibly I'm so confident now) that, now I am deleting any SPAM straightaway without moderation. I found Akismet most effective than CAPTCHA and Blacklist IPs. What are you people using?

OMI stands for “Open mind Index”, as they said it. Here this utility can actually help you to calculate your openness for the variety of music.  All you need to enter your last.fm username to generate this graphical statistic given below.

For this, of course you need to have a profile on last.fm, those who don’t know what last.fm is, it’s a social music site where you send data of about whatever you listen on your computer. This is done with the help of a small plug-in available for download after you sign up for service.  When you enter the username, your music data (most specifically, top artist of last 12 months) is downloaded from the last.fm site and used for calculation.

The following table lists the OMI values and there corresponding description. (Mine is 119)

Below 20:        an extremely small bandwidth of tags; a faker or fanatic of an artist
20 - 39:          a small bandwidth of tags; a fanatic of a specific tag
40 - 59:          a small bandwidth of tags; a fanatic of a few types of music
60 - 79:          a substandard of bandwidth of tags
80 - 89:          a balanced bandwidth of tags; a little below the average
90 - 99:          a balanced bandwidth of tags; the golden mean
100 - 109:       a balanced bandwidth of tags; a little above the average
110 - 129:       a high bandwidth of tags
130 - 149:       a very high bandwidth of tags; truly open minded
above 150:      an extremely high bandwidth of tags; an absolute freethinker and freak

Apart from the above, site also list the global statistic, worth to checkout (http://www.musickum.com ).

Here is a counter to those people who look down at Indian IT industry and think it is producing software of  low quality. I have read people discussing in forums about the low cost in Indian software market. They end up with the conclusion that India produces Inferior software with low cost. That is groundless opinion, I’d say.

On the contrary, Indian companies have won the faith of clients all over the world. Most of the big banking projects are handled by domestic Indian companies. Lets not go too far, Consider Microsoft’s Vista operating system which is launched in the market recently. Almost 40 patents have been filed my Microsoft India, Hyderabad where about 330 software engineers developed important features of operating system. And this is not first time.

i said why i m feeling everything is moving, till I really dont have idea that this may be a earthquake. Shalabh walk in the room and screem"Move fast" and he disappear. But nothing unusual as he do it oftenly when we get late to office. Soon my senses told me we are shaking with whole building with ur ass on senveth floor. Rakesh awake with the noise and we run down by stairs. I saw that whole society has been gathered in the park. And the real phatto "coward" was smiling. He was the first to run down and first from last to get back.

Later in news we know that epic center was in pakistan and the most affected area was POK. Around 30,000 people died in pakistan and 600 in india till this writing.

I thought i should attend this event, so I was there with my best friend amit. There was a good crowd and place seems to be really happening. We entered the venue without any hassle and ticket ;). Nobody ask as for ticket actually, Firstly it feels that entry is free but there was a entry fee. Anyway, In-there was a big hall with all the participated mobile telecommunications company having there setups. As we entered the hall, Sony Ericsson was first to display. It have a good place and well organized. The others participant was Samsung, Nokia, LG, Motorola, Philips, Reliance, Bird and more.
Service provider was also there like Airtel and Hutch. Some companies have invited some dance groups to lure the visitors to their stalls. So we get that stuff too :). It was really rocking however I was expecting more. I thought I'd see new companies there but all was known big companies. Any this was the first exhibition of this type.
