Microsoft has announced a new camera for aerial photography. It is a 92 megapixel camera that they used for Bird’s Eye view on Live Maps. Did you know that Microsoft makes camera?

Microsoft has released the final version of Internet Explorer 8 at MIX09. IE8 has many new features with it, like InPrivate Browsing, Web Slice, Compatibility View etc.
The feature I like the most is Web Slice

What is a Web Slice.
Web Slice is a new feature in IE8 which allows users to subscribe to a portion of a webpage. Web Slice behave just like RSS feeds for a portion of a webpage.  Web slice are based on hAtom Microformat and hSlice Microformat. Any developer can create a web slice in a existing webpage just by annotating HTML with class names for title, entry content and other properties.

How to create a Web Slice.
Here is a simple working example.
Note: Web Slice works only when page is served by a server.

Visual Studio 2008 with .Net 3.5 has been released on November 19, 2007 and available for download at Microsoft’s Website. It is not an ordinary release with some common updates and extensions. VS2008 comes up with lots of exciting features for developers. Some of the main features are:

VS 2008 Multi-Targeting Support.
ASP.NET AJAX and JavaScript Support.
VS 2008 Web Designer and CSS Support.
Language Improvements and LINQ.
Data Access Improvements with LINQ to SQL.
Browsing the .NET Framework Library Source using Visual Studio.

If you want to uninstall the windows vista operation system, then you wouldn’t be happy to know that there is no uninstalling option for Windows Vista. Yes, the Windows Vista installation is permanent. You cannot uninstall windows Vista from Add/Remove Programs.  In case of dual boot, most importantly you will have to restore the MBR to what it was before installing Windows Vista. Like in my case, I have windows XP installed on my Desktop PC and I install this Beta Trial version of Windows Vista.
(Windows Vista uses different mechanism to boot the system. Earlier OS have been using NLTDR but in the case of Windows Vista it is BOOTMGR.)
In any case, if you want to remove the Windows vista from dual boot system, follow the following steps I Performed for the same.  Remember it is not a task for faint hearted.
Given below are the steps I performed to remove the Windows Vista from my PC.

1. Boot the computer in to Windows XP.
2. Insert the Windows Vista DVD in the DVD Drive.
3. Go to “Start” and “Run”. Type in “d:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force” (without quotes, d: is the DVD drive letter.).
4. Restart the computer, and you will notice the boot selection menu is gone.
5. Format the partition/drive where you had Vista installed.
6. Remove two files (Boot.BAK & Bootsect.BAK) on XP root folder (C:)

Note. Bootsect.exe is a utility by Microsoft which updates the master boot code for hard disk partitions in order to switch between BOOT MGR and NTLDR. You can use this tool to restore the boot sector on your computer.

You can type “bootsect /help” for more detailed explanation of usage.

Performing the above step helps in returning to the previous state, when I didn’t installed the Windows Vista.

I guess its going to be a big leap.

With the launch of office 2007 Microsoft has introduced a new format for office
files. Microsoft office 2007 system use XML based file format. In office 2007
doc file is docx file and ppt and xls files are pptx and xlsx files
respectively. These files are based on Office Open XML format. New file formats
are zipped packages where settings, style, format and content is in xml format
inside. The most important feature of this format is interoperability. Now any application
that supports XML can work with the data in new file format. The development of
office documents like power point presentation would be easier on the server
side without any office component or software installation. You even don’t need
to install office 2007 on a web server to create these documents.

Well, the thing is that We need to create a solution for our
client where we need to generate the PPTs and XlSs files on the fly. We have
decided to use this new file format for this task. As this is new thing around,
so there is not much help available on the net. So I am much like eating the Microsoft’s document on the subject.

Here is a counter to those people who look down at Indian IT industry and think it is producing software of low quality. I have read people discussing in forums about the low cost in Indian software market. They end up with the conclusion that India produces Inferior software with low cost. That is groundless opinion, I’d say.

On the contrary, Indian companies have won the faith of clients all over the world. Most of the big banking projects are handled by domestic Indian companies. Lets not go too far, Consider Microsoft’s Vista operating system which is launched in the market recently. Almost 40 patents have been filed my Microsoft India, Hyderabad where about 330 software engineers developed important features of operating system. And this is not first time.

Got installed Windows Vista Beta version on my PC. Actually I have installed it few days back but waiting for this weekend to explore it. Man it rocks!!!
